LONDON (Reuters) -The late Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Al Fayed sexually abused female staff at his London department store Harrods, forced them to have medical screenings and threatened consequences if they tried to complain, lawyers for alleged victims said on Friday.

LONDON - Mohammed Al Fayed would tell his female staff to call him “Papa.” Some 37 women are now accusing the Egyptian billionaire of sexual assault and in some cases rape, including six Americans and one woman who gave an exclusive U.

The high-end London department store, Harrods, said Thursday that it is “utterly appalled” by allegations of abuse – including rape – perpetrated by its former owner, the late billionaire Mohamed Al Fayed.

A BBC investigation heard testimony from more than 20 women who said they were sexually assaulted by the billionaire.

Attorneys for 37 women said they would sue Harrods, the luxury department store, over the rape and sexual assault they say its former owner committed.
